Hi Guys.
I was a small course fisherman few bream roach pearch that sort of thing and used to use the old maggots and sweetcorn, with meats.
last year my friends invited me to carp fishing, they had a array of kit and baits, boilies, (plus liquid dip things) hemp,.. ive been carp fishing 4 times and caught a 11lb 2x13 and a 14lb ALL but 1 on sweetcorn, the other was on a prawn, perhaps im using all the new baits wrongly but sweetcorn seems to do it for me.
any1 got any good old baits or is it still the new baits for you.
Ps that was on a course rod aswell, no rigs alarms or rod pods etc lol

Hi Lavish,
Welcome to the Carper Forum,
the results of your poll will make interesting viewing, sometimes in todays modern approach to Carping, the old baits that we used to always catch on can be overlooked.
Tightlines for 2008

Hi All,
Maybe not so much an old bait, but one that i had good success with was small chunks off a Peparrami "HOT" stick.
Found this worked best for close in fishing, margin or stalking, fished with half a dozen tighly located freebies.
Maybe only worked as it was different to the rest of the baits being being fished on the water at the time. I feel its always worth trying something different, to the regular baits the carp see on your water, you might just strike it luicky.
Cheers _________________ Carper Forum - www.Carper.co.uk

Good old maggot, is the way to go on most waters.
It is not often a carp swims past a bunch of maggots without taking them.
