Hi there.
I am new to carp fishing although had some reasonable size fish from my local pond. Now winter is here do all the carp hibernate OR are there other methods of fishing for them. In summer I used floating bread with good success but now, hmmm. no carp around.
Any advice appreciated for a newcomer to the site and a born again angler.

just replying to your question re winter carping carp in the winter don,t feed as mutch as they do in the summer. runs can be few & far between. bottom baits are best ie,boilies meat etc don,t put to much loose feed in. try getting hold of some dvd,s for begginers they will help alot. regards. boilybill.

due to the lack of a sustained cold snap,the carp havent gone on the feed as much as they normally would,so it is harder to catch,my advise is just persevere,try mainline pro active pineapple boilies,or tutti fruity,always a good winter bait.
dont use hi oil pellets either as they re not any good in this time of meger bite try to scale rigs and bait down small hooks and small baits work well for me

Hopefully we are coming out of the cold period, and get some warm spring sunshine.
There has already been a few good answers on here, like keeping oil levels down to a minimum, limit the freebies etc.
But here is a few of my tips for next winter.
Do your homework on your choosen water, depths, carpy spots, bloodworm area's, snags etc, then when winter comes the knowledge you have built up over the warmer months will be put to good use.
Keep you eyes peeled, and sign's of carp will be beneficial, as they tend not to move too far, and often where there is one there is many.
Fruity baits always work well in winter.
Keep the disturbance down to a minimum, light use of the marker and spods.
Keep yourself warm and comfortable, and warm angler is a confident angler that will adapt and overcome obstacles on the benk, and put a few fish on the bank too.
Floating baits still do work well in the winter, and shallow area's often warm up enough in the winter sun, to help the carp become active.
