Hi,

I use 12 foot Daiwa Powermesh 2.25 TC for most of my UK fishing, but stepped up to the awesome Greys X-Flites 12 foot 3.5 TC for all my fishing abroad, These X-flite are simply the nutz.

ive got a mix of different rods at the moment, and have been using them for ages,i cant even remember what they are, super specialist ring's a bell,pro-carper,shimano etc!Reminds me i should update my tackle, but it still all does the job i bought it for.but i am now fishing an 80acre reservoir and need to cast a long distance,so now is as good a time as any i suppose!i'll have to save up i think!

Go with Greys....

I have a full set of Prodigy Rods, with the Greys Spod & Marker rods.

Best thing is they have a lifetime guarantee.

Any damage what so ever will only cost you £15 per section.

To be honest there are alot of good rods out there and if the budget was endless then i would go with a set of free sprits.

But when set of three without reels are just under £1000 then i know that most people are going for the cheaper option, (myself included).

I have tested alot of rods, and the budget rods that some of the big manufactures sell are spot on, as the blanks are often the same as the exspensive ones, the only difference being the reel seat and rings, which only makes a small difference to the overall feel of the rods.

Again lots of tackle tarts out there willing to buy a name instead of the action and feel of a rod.

have 12' bruce ashby custom century sp's in 3.5t/c. Cool Cool

very good casting rods but still forgiving enough to play carp under your feet. Wink Laughing

i see alot of people praising greys rods on here, greys rods, and any other rod that is produced in china is made cheaply of a cheap poor grade carbon. european companys wont/cant export high grade carbons to the middle east/china due to the fact high grade carbons are used in weapon parts. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

everyone thinks that greys are doing you a favour with this send £35 pound and we'll send you a new section, Rolling Eyes all your doing is paying for new section that it costs them to make. Rolling Eyes

i used to own 50mm platinums. not a top spec rod as priced. Wink Shocked Very Happy

i have been looking st rods recently cos my old ones had lost their action ,after much deliberation i thought why should i pay hundreds and hundreds on 3 rods ,i invested in 3 off 12ft6 tfg x series rods ,firstly being 31/4tc ,they suit all types off fishing i do ,2ndly i have a mate who has had these for 6 years now and totally has tried to abuse them and they keep coming back for more ,and 3rdly the unconditional lifetime guarantee was a big hit .
all i can say is think about how much time you spend on the bank and secondly why spend lots on something that sits on the rests for ages .

absolutley sot on matey,, greys prodigys all day long for me to,

mine are the 3.5 tc, the only thing you forgot to mention in your post is these rods are now available at about £80 and are better than a lot of rods marked up at £200 Very Happy

if what you say is true mate they wouldnt advertise the specs of the carbon used to make there rods as they would be breaking laws, so i think you may just be hung up on greys Razz

excellent choice, probably the best rod on the market for its money, and now at such a low price. Wink

i would advise anyone one on a budget to have a very very close look at these. Wink

designed by simon bond and built on a freesprirt blank. Wink

they'll serve you very very well, classy looking, good casters and lovely to play fish on. top piece of kit.

heres a link for anyone on the look out for new rods. Wink
